Have you ever heard of “breastraunts”? I just heard about them a week ago. Kind of a take off on “Hooters”. Do you believe there is now a “Hooters” in Tokyo? I haven’t been in there but the word on the street is that they’re going downhill. But the “breastraunt” business is climbing. Twin Peaks was launched a couple of years ago in Texas if I’m not mistaken. There are now 24 of them. There’s Mugs n’ Jugs in the Florida area I hear. If you don’t already know these places have skimpily clad waitresses with, I imagine large size, breasts. And the food is supposedly excellent. Not just your typical burgers and fries but treats like pot roast and shepherd’s pie. And supposedly they’re reasonably priced. So you get a nice taste with a nice view.

What do you know about Brooke Shields in 1980? Well I’ll tell you what I know. She was 15 years old. And she was the subject of controversy in the U.S. because of Calvin Klein. As you may well remember she did a number of TV ads for CK jeans. One of the ads sparked controversy among many super straight uncool Americans. In that particular ad she stated, “You know what comes between my and my Calvins? Nothing”. I thought it was a pretty brilliant piece of advertising. But the super straighties were so flabbergasted that it had to be banned in those, probably southern, states. Well Brooke herself these days states that it was no big deal. What do you think?

Do you know Jennifer Rice? Maybe not. Not many people know of her but she’s quite famous in the Olympic world. She’s an Australian swimmer who won 3 medals in the 2008 Olympics. She’ll be competing in London in the medley event. Recently she’s been the subject of controversy over a picture that she posted on twitter. It showed her in a bikini that was given to her as a present for her 24th birthday by a designer friend of hers. The haters of this photo say that it blemishes the Australian nation as she represents the country as an Olympian. The haters say she should be withdrawn from the games. The others say there’s nothing wrong with it at all. They say she looks hot in it. I think the haters are making a big stink over nothing. And as you can see the bikini is pretty normal in my eyes anyway. What do you think?

It was another hoppin’ night at the Blue Flame last night for the July Jam session. Only 2 drummers so I got to do a lot of jammin’. The other drummer was a bas ass mother fucker. He was soooo good. He has taste and chops which you never really know until he solos. He’s a Chinese American I believe. There was a great 20 year old guitar player. The owner is the guitar playing son of a famous big band leader in Japan who passed away a few years back. The 20 year old kid is the owner’s son and so the big band leader’s grand son. Music in the genes. There was also a black bass player who has chops galore. The 3 of them guitar, bass, and drums played a slammin’ rendition of “Spain” you know, the Chick Corea tune. I will be heading over there again next month for another good night hopefully.
